Buena Vista is an ethereal and mind-bending work of experimental puppet theater created by New York based artist Britt Moseley with a live score by composer Sean Petell. It is a live cinema experience performed in a series of miniature sets and stages, captured by an array of video cameras and then projected large scale and live. Settle in for a journey through time and space, watching as we zoom into wall vents to discover solar systems, see the cosmos forming, and the creation of civilization. Onstage the engineers of the performance create these vistas with incredibly mundane materials: decaying mountain ranges of ceramic clay, orbiting planets of Pepto Bismol, clouds of wood glue, and sauce volcanoes. Get ready to space out in the audio-visual experience Buena Vista.

Buena Vista was developed at the St. Ann’s WareHouse Puppet Lab and in residence at the Institute for Electronic Arts in 2019 at Alfred University, Alfred NY. Buena Vista has been shown at the St. Ann’s Warehouse (Brooklyn, NY.), Dixon Place (New York, NY.) and at the Rochester Contemporary Arts Center, Rochester, NY. Buena Vista has been made possible, in part, with funds from the Media Arts Assistance Fund, a regrant partnership of Wave Farm and the New York State Council on the Arts, Electronic Media and Film Program, the New York State Governor’s Office and the New York State Legislature.
